Like I mentioned a few weeks ago, I intend to continue my 50 states challenge on this new blog. I will redo all the states that I did on my old blog, but for today I’m going to post a state that I’ve had done for a while and not posted, Missouri. For this new blog I will pick one photo that best represents each state and then add others in the post if I have them (I do for most states, but not all).
When I think of Missouri I think of family. Most of my dad’s family lives in the Kansas City area. But most people probably think of other things, like buying supplies for Oregon Trail or the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Or, if you’ve had the thrilling experience of driving across the wonderful state of Missouri, you probably think of well-advertised porno theaters and strip clubs separated by boring-ass farms.
I am choosing the Gateway Arch for my main photo. Les and I took our first cross-country road trip in January of 2006 and one of the things we stopped to see was the Gateway Arch. This is one of the few photos either of us took for that trip, unusual I know, but we only had a film camera. So I’m choosing this photo even though Les was the one that propped the camera up on the ground to take it. I scanned the negatives of most of the decent photos I took back then and I was happily surprised to find this one, the print I had of it has disappeared during one of our moves.
1 down, 49 to go.
